Sports Betting 101: Tips You Need to Know

Sports betting can be a pretty hard expertise. Everyone knows that.

Even with all the knowledge you’ve accumulated over the years, you can’t always get consistent winning results if you’re not applying what you’ve learned so far.

That said, we’ll be talking about some of the things you need to know with sports betting, from the basics to the more advanced things that even some experts don’t know. Let’s get started.

Sportsbooks

A sportsbook is an establishment that takes the bets of people like you on sports events and pays out winnings, if you win that is. Otherwise, they keep your money.

As a sports bettor, you should have access to three sportsbooks of different types. These are the square, sharp sportsbook, and reduced juice. So, what are these?

A square type is the oddsmakers that are used by bettors. They have low limits because bettors usually bet on favorites in addition to the offers with underdogs. Sharp sportsbooks on the other hand have high limits and usually take 6-figure bets.

But the best sportsbook for an everyday bettor is the reduced juice sportsbook. You have a higher percentage of winning and thus, less chance of losing money.

The importance of having multiple sportsbooks, particularly these three types, you can increase your long-term profits that may determine whether you lose or win in that season.

Team Names

You should also figure out how to base your bets on analysis and solid data. This is important because just relying on your guts won’t always end well.

That’s why you should consider placing your bets on individuals and thus, making it important that you cover the team names of the teams you’ll be betting on.

Favorites and Underdogs

You already know that the public prefer betting on the favorites or “overs”. It’s only natural given that they’ve already won a lot and scored a lot.

In addition to that, due to the manipulation of media, these teams always get too much credit as they are exaggerated by the public media.

That’s why you might be better off betting on the favorites early on the game, while you bet on the underdogs later. This is because the majority of bettors will bet on the favorites in most games.

So placing your bets on the underdogs later will mean that favorites are mostly betted on due to the over-hype the media brings.

Cashing Out

There are many problems you’ll encounter when cashing out. One of this is the fees or the cashing out service isn’t free.

Since sportsbooks are technically a business, they don’t want money going out of their hands. Make sure you prepare all the necessary information when cashing out as they may require you to provide them. If you apply the things that you’ve learned in this blog post, you can increase your chances of having consistent winning results. Remember this before you next enter the sports betting business.

The Basketball Conferences to Look Out For in March

If you’re going to enter sports betting, often you’ll find that most of the beginners tend to bet on the most popular conferences. While that may be a viable option, it’s not at all the best.

This may be great for starting sports betting, but as time passes by, you’ll learn that there are small conferences that are worth betting on, if not more.

That’s why today, we’ll be talking about the basketball conferences that experts in sports betting are excited to bet on but novices don’t.

Big West

Big West is a conference in University of California Irvine. The UC Irvine Anteaters made through the regular season with a score of 14-3. Thanks to their outstanding head coach Russell Turner and his hard work and helpfulness in this program, they were able to rank in the top 100 of KenPom’s defensive rankings for 6 straight years.

Now, Irvine is the top 1 in the national level in terms of 2-point field goal defense. They are experienced with playing nationally. In fact, they have experience as 44th nationally, and they have lots of members with a good depth in football.

That’s why there are many possibilities for this seemingly small conference. For example, if the Anteater team is to be knocked out, the NIT will be in trouble as this is a dangerous team.

Ohio Valley

Another small basketball conference you should look into this March is the Ohio Valley as there’s a high possibility that they’ll yield a positive ATS record probably during the postseason.

They have a record of 44-21 on the road overall. After all, during the regular season title, the co-favorites to win the championship, Murray State, flanked Belmont in the OVC featuring Ja Morant. In addition to that, losing in the conference tournament means Murray State will still be guaranteed a spot in the NIT while Belmont will get in as well.

The Austin Peay is in the third of OVC standings while Jacksonville State is in fourth place. The best in defense is still the South Carolina but have trouble with their offense.

Additionally, three of their players are included in the top 200 nationally. This conference will indeed be a gold mine for sports bettors.

So-Con

Now the So-Con basketball conference might be the best conference to hop on and I’ll be betting that this conference will have a winning ATS record. In fact, So-Con is KenPom’s #11 basketball conference in the nation! Of course, they’re ahead of the Missouri Valley, C-USA, and A-10.

Plus, the Wofford team made an outstanding record in the league at 18-0 so they have the chance to fight through the NCAA tournament. But the Terriers are still the favorite despite the three teams that have outstanding road records.

Regardless, this trio of teams in addition to Terriers has a combined record of 43-17. Now you know why I myself want to bet on this basketball conference. Three of these teams might also make it in the minor league.

Those are the three basketball conferences to look out for and these are also the conferences that expert bettors are betting on. While they may be small, they are still more capable of giving you the results you want.
